Before I was a therapist, I was a mother, and before I was a mother, I created educational websites for a UK university. This website brings together these three roles into one project.
For the past few years, I have had to reduce my therapy work to focus more on my own mothering. However, during this period, I have found pockets of time to build on my master’s dissertation research on motherhood and the person-centred approach to therapy. I have researched further, read and written many, many notes, and this space has been extremely important to me for both exploring my own experiences of motherhood and developing my psychotherapy practice.
As my thoughts have grown, I have been able to share them with a few others. However, I also want to share them more widely. After feeling a strong pull to create something tangible out of everything that I have absorbed and scribbled in notebooks, I have therefore created Authentic Mothering
I aim to build a resource for mothers, parents, therapists and anyone else who would like a place to reflect on the mothering in their life. I hope you enjoy this space, and I would love to hear what you think of the project. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your own thoughts.
Warmest wishes,
Heather
